Patrick Skerrett (@PJSkerrett), editor of First Opinion and host of the First Opinion Podcast, works with authors who offer perspective and context for how the life sciences are shaping our lives and our world. Before joining STAT at its founding in 2015, he was executive editor of Harvard Health Publications, the consumer publishing division of Harvard Medical School. He is the coauthor of “Eat, Drink, and Be Healthy: The Harvard Medical School Guide to Healthy Eating” and other books. He has also worked as a high school science teacher and as a biologist studying fruit-eating bats. Pat earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Northwestern University and a master's in biology from Washington University in St. Louis.
